8 tips to feel positive about your wedding postponement

My wedding has also been postponed…

In this time of so much uncertainty & heartbreak, postponing my wedding temporarily got me down. We were supposed to be getting married in 5 weeks time in Paris, I was so excited! Suddenly that became completely impossible and all those dreams were shattered.

I chose to re-frame my thinking so that I could continue to feel excited about my BIG day. I know there is SO much that is out of our control right now but let’s get excited about that wedding again. We really need something to look forward to, now more than ever.

I want to share with you tips on how you too, can turn this into a positive with my 8 tips to feel positive about your wedding postponement.

We’ve all been giving a gift, the gift of extra time. Time to enjoy the planning phase and to enjoy just being a fiancé.  Try to think of all the positive things that this unexpected wedding postponement can bring.

THINKING POSITIVELY also reduces stress, anxiety and boosts the immune system.

Here are 8 tips to feel positive about your wedding postponement

TAKE BACK YOUR CONTROL

Setting a new date puts you back on track with the things you can indeed control.  However finding a new wedding date in the best of times can be difficult, so don’t rush or stress to find a new one. Finding a new date should feel exciting and hopeful, definitely not pressured or rushed.

DANCE

Spend some time learning a first dance routine. Join a dance class or have someone choreograph one with you. You could even use the lockdown time to learn a dance in your living-room using Youtube.  My fiancé and I never got around to learning a first dance because time just flew by. It was something I had wanted to do, so now we have the time to do it.

WRITE YOUR VOWS STRESS FREE!

We had intended to write our own vows, which I hadn’t done yet. With 5 weeks to go I was feeling the pressure. Now I have a whole year… so I’m going to start now.

REST

Think of all that time you will have to relax, before your new wedding date. Since everything is already done.

CELEBRATE

Celebrate on the day you were supposed to say I do!

Providing that we’re not on lockdown, we hope to have a party. Do something special, even if it’s just the two of you. Make it another excuse to celebrate love with whoever can make it.

During this time of social distancing you want to hold on more tightly to your nearest and dearest. This makes celebrating with them all the more special.

Keep your chin up and remember what’s important. You have each other with all that love.. married or not!!
