If you know how to pose properly, you can work the camera for any occasion, be it your holiday snaps or a branding shoot. It’s a life-long skill that’ll serve you well time and time again.

My tricks, tips for posing like a professional.

THE MAGICAL ART OF

POSING

CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

My goal is to capture the essence of you and your day in the most beautiful way possible.

I would say my work has a strong editorial and fashion influence.

At the start of your day before you are camera ready I love to get creative and style all your gorgeous uniquely chosen details. Your flowers, rings, ring boxes, shoes, perfume, fabrics, dress, wedding invites or other stationery. I love to work together creativity with my clients so that this part is styled and photographed just as beautiful as the details you spent months sourcing.

With a high-fashion style; our bride and groom portraits are full of laughter, elegance and romance.

I love guiding you both into beautiful poses and capturing your love and interactions.

DO YOU DIRECT US AND HELP WITH POSING?

Don’t worry, this is where I shine!!!  You will get lots of tips and direction to help you look and feel confident and amazing. Just relax and enjoy!

DO YOU TAKE POSED PHOTOS OF OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

Yes I do. I understand that most weddings require a certain number of group photos therefore together we dedicate a small amount of time to getting these shots done as efficiently as possible.

For full day weddings, I would encourage you to have no more than around eight large formal group shots, which can take between 15-30 minutes.  A helpful bridesmaid or usher can help during this time by rounding up the guests on your list whilst I focus on making sure everyone looks great on the photos. Of course we can do more then 8 group shots, just be aware this takes more and you will need to plan that into your itinerary.

HOW MANY IMAGES DO I RECEIVE?

Each wedding is unique so it’s hard to say an exact number. As a rough guide my clients receive around 40 or more full resolution images per each hour of photography booked.

WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOGRAPHS?

We will endeavour to have your photographs ready and delivered to you within 10 weeks. Requested rush delivery of editing will incur an extra charge.

CAN WE SEE OUR IMAGES QUICKER?

Please feel free to inform me of 1-2 images that stood out for you during the wedding day. I will send you those as previews within 1-5 days after the photo-shoot. I’m always showing clients the back of the camera… so just tell me ‘That ONE!!’ 🙂

For the full collection:  We edit and deliver each wedding fairly in order of shoot date in order for us to deliver your images within the 10 weeks.

If you wish to see your full collection images quicker, a rush delivery of editing fee (Jump to the top of the queue) is available at 800€ for events less than 8 hours and 1000€ for events less than 14 hours.

HOW WILL OUR PHOTOGRAPHS BE DELIVERED?

We use online transfer services to upload and send you your photographs via the client section of the ClaireMorrisPhotography website. You will receive email notification of this. From this link you will be able download your photographs to your computer.

If you wish to purchase any additional products such as our luxury albums or print boxes please ask for further information.

HOW DOES IT WORK WITH ALBUMS?

Once your lovely photographs have been delivered through our online gallery system. You will be guided to choose your favourite images.  Through the ”Select My Favourites’ Option.   When you have finished selecting you can then save this and select ”Send Favourites to Admin”   This would send me all your selected images that you would like to appear in your album.

From there we begin the design process.  You will be sent proofs of the final design. Once you are happy with the proof, this layout design is then sent to our album suppliers who hand make your beautiful album. It takes 3-4 weeks for them to hand make your album.

DO YOU RETOUCH OUR IMAGES?

I aim to get everything as perfect as possible in camera. Images are edited in terms of exposure, cropping, colour, tone and contrast to my specific editing style.

Any retouching including skin airbrushing, image manipulation or re- construction requested by the client will incur an additional charge per image.

Hiring a top professional hair and makeup artist DOES make a huge difference. They know how to get you camera ready and looking and feeling like a celebrity. I can happily recommend my favourite vendors.

Take the opportunity to be pampered. Look and feel like a movie star for the day on YOUR one and only big day!!!!

HOW MUCH TIME DO WE NEED FOR BRIDE AND GROOM PORTRAITS?

Every wedding is unique. We recommend for bride and groom portraits taking 40 mins of time out together if possible.  I can then capture beautiful official photographs of you both newly husband and wife. Consider a little extra time if you have a videographer as each of us will want a certain amount of lead time for our shots.

GETTING AROUND FOR THE WEDDING DAY

Where possible during the day, it’s great when I can travel with the bride/ bride and groom. That means I’ll never miss an amazing moment.

Expenses, Travel & Accommodation

Where applicable expenses are by quotation and in addition to the collection price.

We ask on our contract that for weddings 8 hours or more, that due to long hours on site the client is also responsible for organising vendor meals for Claire Morris Photography crew on the day of the wedding.

For weddings outside of Paris travel and accommodation fees are payable by the client. For weddings in France we ask for 2 nights accommodation for Claire Morris Photography; the night before and the night of the wedding. Claire Morris Photography will organise and secure the travel and accommodation. This is payable with the deposit payment.

WHAT TIME OF DAY IS BEST FOR THE PORTRAITS?

Light and other variables change throughout the year.  As a rule it’s best to avoid outdoor mid-day harsh light (12-3PM) during the summer months.  My personal favourite time of day is 2 hours before sunset up to and including sunset ( The golden hour) This time creates more romantically lit portraits as does shooting early morning. Sometimes popping out between dinner courses works really perfectly for some extra portraits in the golden hour light.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

Please please please don’t watch the weather until 24 hours before your big day. It’s 90% of the time wrong. I’ve had a client crying on the phone with me 2 weeks before their big day because the weather showed rain. Then on the big day it was beautiful sunshine. Watching the weather in advance just causes unnecessary stress if it’s not the news you want to see.

If it does rain it’s not bad either.  Be flexible and smile about it! You could bring an umbrella for some cute and wonderful portraits photos. For Paris weddings; there are many gorgeous spots undercover.  If the rain is strong, we’ll try and re-jig the itinerary and or where possible and utilise indoor locations in your beautiful venue.
