A Pre-Wedding Photoshoot with Newly Engaged Singapore’s Top Fashion Blogger Melissa Koh & James Babschen
When Wedding Scoop approached me to collaborate on creating a pre-wedding shoot for fashion blogger Melissa Koh and her fiancé James in iconic locations in Paris, I knew they would embody the perfect epitome of modern elegance and Parisian glamour. Designed to capture an “elegant and spirited young woman in love”, the shoot inspires an intense and playful love that personifies the spontaneous joie de vivre of today’s young women, representing a particular type of freedom and seduction.
In collaboration with Nyachia from NKT Events, we were able to find the perfect balance between design and vendors, establishing the perfect scene and settings to reflect Melissa and James’ high-fashion style and ever-growing love.
Filmmaker Chris from Zen Film Works and I ventured out into the streets of Paris with Melissa and James. Together we visited famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre where Melissa wore a voluptuous ball gown from Marchesa paired with Bridgette Gold Rose shoes from luxury shoe designer Harriet Wilde. Kerri Langfield created an unstructured chignon with a modern romantic feel choosing a perfect pink lip to compliment the soft, gold and nude tones for the eyes. James was ever so dapper in his cream and grey linen suit from Suit Supply.
After the photo-tour around Paris, we then headed to La Maison Centraliens, where Melissa and James transformed into a couple of exquisiteness, complementing the opulent decor of the venue.
Melissa wore a Inbal Dror gown, transforming her look with a palette of sophisticated golds and deep plums coupled with an elegant, feminine up-style with a slight asymmetric feel.
Surrounded by the ornamental richness of the Napoleon III ballroom, a romantic table for two was set with rose gold accents and crystal stemware. A gorgeous centrepiece by Estelle Preston was designed with a soft mix of pastel powder David Austin roses combined with sage and tumbling foliage that was complimented perfectly with the explosion of dramatic Bordeaux blooms.
Calligrapher and stationery designer Joy Fairclough, of Studio French Blue, pulled soft rosy and coppery tones from the inspiration palette to create a menu and a custom Engagement Announcement which the couple could send to close family and friends. A romantic love letter (en français, of course!) made for a pretty bit of ephemera for this photoshoot.
Keeping in harmony with the colour palette of our romantic editorial, cake designer Syne from Syne’s Cakes, designed a pale pink two tier cake highlighted with precious metallic torn 24 carat gold leaf. To enhance the soft and romantic design we added fresh roses and rose petals as a finishing touch. The flavour of the cake was in the same spirit – Rose Romance, a rose cake with raspberry and vanilla cream filling.
