Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is the inspiration for this editorial. Like the movie, we wanted to shoot at the Château de Versailles, above all for its iconic grounds. Marie Antoinette loved to pass most of her time in the gardens, surrounded by nature. This was so important to her that she built many little places there.
The chosen color scheme for this shoot is lovely sorbet pastels of lemon, rose, and peach, which are the colors of the epic floral headpiece. The locations we chose for this shoot featured vibrant greens and authentic surfaces. In the gardens, by the lake, we had full use of the boats to create a dreamy image. Also, Marie Antoinette’s “Petit Trianon” is used as our backdrop and to tie in the colors we created a cascade of flowers. Versailles is full of history therefore to add give a timeless glow to our images I decided to use medium format film.
